We have a hopscotch court in our playground. And I love teaching our students how I used to play this game when I was their age. I incorporate this activity as a warm-up activity or a job students can choose from our movement cart. The activity follows a lesson I teach on the difference between hopping and jumping and fits loco motor skills unit or jump rope unit. Here is a link to the poster I created. It can be used during class or recess. I plan on hanging it in our yard for students to use at recess. As I help students move like Montessori, the goal is for them to self-manage, work together independently, and without teachers' interference.
