How to Play: "What's the Time, Mr. Wolf?"

"What's the Time, Mr. Wolf?" is a fun TAG game to play with primary and elementary students. I introduce the game to primary students around the time their leaders teach time in the classroom. This is one way to bring the inside classroom and the outside one closer together. It is a way for students to understand better the concept of time and hours on the clock.

When talking about the time the Wolf can say when asked for the time, I bring out a real clock from the students' classroom and count the hours on the clock.

Prior to counting the hours I ask the students: "What are some examples of time the wolf can say?"

After letting student answer, I ask: "Can the Wolf say 13 O'clock? how about 100 O'clock?"

I ask: " What does O'clock mean?" and then I explain: O'clock means On The Clock. So, let's take a look at the hours we have on the clock.

After counting I ask again: can we say 25 O'clock? Why not? Because the higher number on the clock is 12.

We use half a pool noodle to tag. With big groups and younger students who all want to be wolves, I use three taggers at the time. Something I actually observed students do and adopted from them.
